How to clean dish drying rack

Dish drying racks are generally made of metal, wood, or plastic and are used to deposit wet dishes. After the dishwashing process, thanks to this invention, which we all have in our kitchen tools, we put glasses, plates, mugs, shelves in it. Even though we put clean items in that place, it is still one of the dirtiest areas in the kitchen because there are hard stains, and soda water dripping from the dishes can cause mold. Of course, such an unfortunate outcome can be prevented, which is why we are here. As is the case with every tool, the stand requires that a little attention be paid to extending its life, that is, to ensure that only the dishes that come there receive proper treatment and are maximally sterile for use.

If your stock is made of metal, there is a risk of catching rust that will spread further, which will eventually lead to the investment of buying a new rack, you will agree that you do not need another unnecessary expense.

How to wash the rack properly?

In this section, we will describe in four steps how to properly wash and clean a metal dish rack.

Everything you are going to need is soap or detergent, hot water, a sponge, metal wire, and a toothbrush.

Step # 1

Disassemble your stand if it does not consist of one part so that the cleaning can be done by segments (holder, which will result in this process being 100% efficient).

Step # 2

Wet the metal wire and use a toothbrush with hot water and add detergent. Lightly but thoroughly scrape off the grease with a particular focus on the stains.

Step # 3

When you have completed the previous cleaning phase, now rinse it off with plain water and take a good look to see if you missed something by the way.

Step # 4

Depending on whether your rack consists of multiple segments, the first thing you need to do is separate them and place them on an absorbent or clean and dry cloth to prevent rust. If your rack is plastic, you can leave it to dry in the sink.

This was the “old school” way of washing, with the ingredients you probably have in the house. However, if you have a dishwasher in your kitchen, be sure it is also a safe way to wash your rack. But do not forget to leave the rack to dry after hand or machine washing.

However, stains that are difficult to remove are usually left on the rack. We recommend vinegar disinfectant for this purpose. Put the rack in the sink or sink (with a plug) and do the following:

Step # 1

Pour hot water into your sink, pour one glass of vinegar, dip the rack, and let it soak for a minimum of 15 minutes.

Step # 2

Drain well and rinse the rack, then wipe it with a cloth.

Step # 3

Allow the rack to dry well on a dry cloth.

Multifunctional purpose of the stand and its alternatives

Most households today combine a dishwasher with a rack. Sometimes it is unnecessary to start the machine because of two plates, one fork, and three cups, so we generally wait for the dirty dishes to pile up, and the rack comes in handy if we cannot watch the dirty dishes and the machine is in the process of washing. It should be remembered that there are also non-machine washable utensils such as Plastic Dishes, Travel Mugs, Wooden Utensils, Copper Dishes, Gold Leaf, Cast Iron, Nonstick Pans, Knives, Containers with Stickers, Crystal glasses. However, there are those racks that do not take up too much space and can be installed in the space to cover the part of the sink. This is especially useful for those who do not have enough space in the kitchen, and at the same time, it is quite a practical solution.

In addition to the rack for this purpose, the most common well absorbent rug of a large enough surface to fit all the dishes can serve. We recommend that you always have two available, a spare that e.g., it can be hung by the oven door to dry at the same time while the other is being used.

Some people have started using this dish rack to place the documents.

It’s not an easy task to keep your kitchen meticulous. The dishwasher sometimes takes up too much space on the kitchen element where it is most often found, or hanged onto a wall, or placed in a space next to, under, or above the sink.

We advise you to clean your rack at least once a week or once a month in more detail by the steps we have outlined. Do not allow mold or spread corrosion to spread around. Take care of hygiene, and it would not be a bad idea to buy a new one if it is the one that is already in bad condition.

Of course, each of the variants has advantages and disadvantages, and this applies to those who do not have a dishwasher in the household. If you choose the option to place the rack next to the sink, you will agree that it is the most practical option because you can wash dishes with one hand and put them in the rack at the same time, but it is not aesthetically nice to see a stack of dishes. On the other hand, the other two options also have their disadvantages. Constantly bending or lifting your fingers to lower or lift the dishes or to put something on the rack is not the happiest solution, especially for older people. In addition, this activity further consumes our time.

For the end

Even tho you have used a dish rack for a long time, you should know where to store the dish drying rack and when to use a dish drying rack. Clean it regularly, and there is no need to worry about bacterias and mold.
